We are a team of five girls from Slovenia – a nurse, a dental student, two medical graduates and a young doctor – going on a humanitarian medical expedition to Uganda for three months in January 2024. We are going to the south-western part of Uganda, more specifically to Bwama Island in Lake Bunyonyi, where we want to provide basic health care to the local population as best we can. We will be working voluntarily under the auspices of the Tropical and Travel Medicine Section of the Slovenian Medical Association.

Our main task will be to work in a clinic with occasional visits to remote villages. In case of serious illnesses, we will arrange for the patient to be transported to the nearest hospital in Kabale. We also aim to educate the local people about prevention, hygiene and protection against infectious diseases and to equip the local clinics with sanitation materials and medical supplies.

The Uganda Humanitarian Medical Expedition is a voluntary project, which as such faces a number of financial costs. That is why we are turning to you. In order to carry out the project in a quality manner, we need both financial resources and sanitation supplies or services.
